Continued Good Times....

The good times just continue to roll here in San Marcos.

Last weekend we went to a fun 60's revival at a cute outdoor theater in Wimberley. Our friends the Windham's were rock stars and the location was gorgeous (though truth be told we were taken off-guard by the whole "outdoor" thing...must have missed that on the website.)

Then on Memorial Day we spent the day with our good friends Steve and Najeda. Games, food, great conversation, touring through the Hill Country....such a great day....the only thing missing was a jam session with Steve's banjo and our guitars - which is quickly becoming a summer staple.

Any avid reader of our blog (all three of you) has undoubtedly already noticed the plethora of cute small towns all around us. On Memorial Day we visited another little German town called Gruene (green.) "Gruene: Gently Resisting Change Since 1872". It was a fantastic little kick-back to simpler times. Cute shops, buildings and the biggest antique store I've ever seen. Definitely worth the visit.

Fala Ingles Alemao.....

Last week we ventured to Fredericksburg for some history and German-ness. A beautiful drive through the hill country, a great WWII museum, cute old buildings and shops and some delicious German meat, potatoes and kraut. Summer continues to smile upon us.

Will walk for money...will Relay for Life...

It's that time of year again....time to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back.

I Celebrate:
- Good treatments that kept my dad with us longer than expected and doctors who were knowledgeable AND kind.
- Continued good research and good news
- Extra minutes, days and hours
- Caretakers everywhere
- Linda Duffin
- Grandpa Ingoldsby
- Bronwyn's recovery and continued good health
- Bronwyn's hugs and fantastic 4-year old personality

I Remember:
- The way it feels to hear that someone you love has cancer
- Tears and fatigue
- The fight
- My Dad
- Gramps
- Annee
- How the newest additions to our family also lost their mother to cancer
- Saying Goodbye

And I Fight Back:
- For Hope!
- For all of us!
- For the future!
- For extra minutes, days and hours!
- For prevention, early diagnosis and new and improved treatments!

For the last few years Relay for Life has been an important part of our lives. Although I'm not participating as a committee member or team member this year I'd like to throw all my support to Marie and Todd's fundraising efforts in Boise. To see Bronwyn's fundraising page and show support click HERE.
Thank you all for your support over the years and much love from us to you.

One year down....

To celebrate the end of the semester (and subsequently C's first year in his PhD program) we ventured into Lockhart last week to see the sights and eat some famous Texas barbeque.

We ate with the pleasant folks above and loved every meaty, smokey bite. However, we were less impressed with the Texas original Big Red....I didn't hate it and I'm always willing to give it another chance...but it was a little on the 'I let my snowcone melt and now I'm drinking it side' of things.

Even though I'm busier than ever with work I feel free as a bird now that C is done with the semester. Lockhart was just the beginning of the adventures we have planned....

The Big Jump.....

To celebrate her 40th...and prove she's a rock star....Janell impressed us all and went sky diving today. So much fun to see her flying through the air toward us. She made us all wish we weren't quite so wimpy.

Saturday...in the park...hotter than the 4th of July....

Saturday was the 4th annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest fundraiser for YSB. Nothing like a day at the beautiful courthouse filled with seriously impressive chalk art and some of the best karaoke in Texas. Tell me I don't have a great job! For more pictures (or to see what else we've been up to at YSB) click here.
